Well thankfully, Bibb City, is well known for their textiles. In 1909, Bibb City was incorporated and was being managed by the Bibb Manufacturing Company. Which operated on of the largest textile mills in the surrounding areas of the Southeast region. Sadly, in 1998, the mill closed, which would late cause the dissolvement of the charter in December 7, 2000.
FIRE DAMAGE:
With the Mill being closed down in the late 90's the building sat for many years as vacant and then turning into storage. Sadly, 8 years later on October 30th, 2008 the mill caught fire, and was destroyed. The entire city area, consisting of historic Columbus Mill area and the associated mill village owned by the Bibb Manufacturing Company was a major role play for employment for the city.
