Negative Air Machine (NAM)

A Negative air machine (NAM) is an electromechanical device used to create a negative air pressure differential in an enclosure. These devices are used to clean the air in restoration work to prevent the spread of contaminants like mold, fumes, smoke, and dust to other areas of a structure. 

Example: Negative air machines are used to clean the air and create positive or negative air pressure in factories, medical facilities, industrial buildings, and confined spaces with mold, asbestos, or lead. They were used extensively during the COVID-19 pandemic to help create safe healthcare environments.
