St. Edward's University, founded in 1885 is a nationally ranked, private, Holy Cross university located in Austin, Texas. St. Edward's University was founded by the Reverend Edward Sorin, who also founded the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. In 1903, fire destroyed the majority of Main Building, but it was rebuilt by the fall. Women arrived on campus in 1966 as students for Maryhill College. By 1970, Maryhill was absorbed, and St. Edward's University became co-educational. Starting in 2015, the university focused efforts on preparing students for the demands of technology, as well as economic and cultural changes. Partnerships within the Austin business community and with other colleges were developed to expand real-world learning, and research.
