Small Texas town With a Rich History
There is a small town that is about 20 miles northwest of Houston called Kohrville. It was founded around 1870. The town was named for a German immigrant named Paul Kohrmann. He was the postmaster when the first post office opened in 1881. The town continued to grow through the 1960’s. One of the most popular places in Kohrville started in 1940’s when Lawrence Shipley Sr. created his hot, fresh handcrafted do-nuts. Neighbors and visitors love going to Shipley Do-nuts. Originally, they were 5 cents a dozen. Today they sell more than 60 varieties, but the plain glazed is still the most popular.
