Some say when you drive through Silverstreet, South Carolina – Don’t blink because you just might miss it, but this town is one of the oldest towns in Newberry County. The town of Silverstreet is located west just outside of the City of Newberry along the old Cherokee trail – used by the Cherokee and was the meeting place for Charleston Merchants and settlers to trade goods as this was a halfway meeting place from the coast to the upstate of South Carolina. This sweet little jewel of a town is located north of the Saluda River. Southeast of Lake Murray and northwest of Lake Greenwood. This small town is less than 4 square miles and mostly consist of land with less than four hundred people. There is a small post office and a couple local diners but other than that it’s the true meaning of smalltown living.
