The Village of Richfield Ohio is a small Summit County community conveniently located between Cleveland and Akron metropolitan areas. This part of Summit County was once occupied by Native American’s settlements on the Cuyahoga River in Boston Township. 1795 brought the first settlers from the east coast. These brave pioneers traveled from Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York bringing their families, supplies for building homes, and the needed provisions for supporting life.
In 1840 John Brown came to Richfield from Hudson Ohio, here he established an underground railway station for run-away slaves, concealing them and helping them escape under the cover of darkness. 1859 that John Brown gave his life on the gallows at Charles Town, WV for the principles he fought for.
