Ocean Gate, a coastal community at the Jersey Shore, located right along the Toms River and is only 0.45 square miles. We have a population of a little over 2,000 year round residents. We have one elementary school that hosts students in Kindergarten through 5th. After 5th, the students go a local middle and high school nearby. We do not have an Interstate, U.S. or state highways but we have a boardwalk, beach and plenty of seabirds. The Wildwood Avenue Pavilion is a popular beach destination. A pier extends out from the pavilion offering visitors a beautiful view of the river and Barnegat Bay. Our beach here is quaint. Stop by Ocean Gate Market to grab lunch to bring to the beach. It is a perfect way to spend the afternoon by watching the boats go by. Don’t be surprised if you a have a gull or two stop by to eat your meal with you! A visit to the O.G. Creamery is perfect for dessert.
Our local yacht club on the river, promotes sailing and athletic competition by offering a summer sailing school for both children and adults and participates in various sailboat races and events. There are benches here to just sit, relax and smell the fresh, salty air. We have two parks in our community. There is Willis Jones First Aid Park on Cape Maye Avenue and Jay Marles Park with a playground on Wildwood Avenue.
