The town is believed to be named after a biblical allusion about "going to Egypt for corn" that was plentiful in the area. The "New" was added around the 1930s to differentiate it from other Egypts.
We have the New Egypt Speedway has a clay track for modified, sportsman cars and street stocks and Laurita Winery and Inn, 250-acre vineyard surrounded by woodlands, meadows and pastures, has events almost every day of the week in the warmer months. The weekends they host festivals with food trucks, fire pits, bands and is the perfect place to catch up with our friends, neighbors and community. Oakford Lake & Paradise Park is a great place for fishing and has access to the Crosswicks Creek. Besides fishing, the lake is great for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and has a boat launch. The lake also used to hold an annual Lake Carnival with carnival boats but ended around the start of World War I. Emery’s Berry Patch, a 60-acre farm, is a must in the summer for pick your own organic blueberries. Saratoga Farms might be known as a horse boarding facility but they are also known as one of the best chicken hatcheries in NJ.

I had a pretty big issue with a flood in my bathroom, bedroom and a few smaller rooms. Roland Miller and his partner Jim did a great job educating me on the process and then performing the required cleanup They put my mind at ease (as much as possible) given the circumstances. I recommend them highly.
We had a sizable amount of water damage due to a problem with our refrigerator. We notified SERVPRO of Jackson/Lacey on a Wednesday afternoon, and the crew arrived promptly the next morning. Roland and Marvey were wonderful as were the rest of the team. All work to be done was explained clearly and thoroughly. Everyone took the utmost care when moving our furniture and packing contents of the drawers. They made a stressful situation more tolerable. All workers were totally professional, yet extremely personable and friendly. I would highly recommend them to my friends and neighbors and would welcome Roland, Marvey and any of the crew back into my home without hesitation. When the job was finished, we felt as though we were saying goodbye to friends rather than workers! Such a great group of competent and respectful men.
