Zachary Restoration Services
Zachary is a city in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, United States. It lies inside of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area and within the borders of Acadiana. Its population was 16,005 at the 2010 census. The city is home to Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, although none of its land area lies within Zachary's city limits. The center hosted an external branch of LSU until 1961, when it moved to its current location just south of Highland Road between Bluebonnet Blvd., and Nicholson Drive. The city was named after prominent businessman Michael Zachary.
History of Zachary
Zachary, Louisiana is a small city in East Baton Rouge Parish. Settlers began to move into the area in the late 18th century, when French trappers visited the area. Some of the first settlers were hunters and trappers who built small camps to hunt and trade with Native Americans. In 1810, following the Louisiana Purchase, Zachary became part of St. James Parish and later one of its five municipalities when they broke away as a parish in 1819. Over time, Zachary became more populated with large plantations; however these were devastated by disease during the Civil War.
