Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, was founded in 1883 at the head of the Spring River in the Ozark Mountains.  An early grist mill powered by the spring’s water contributed to the town’s growth. With the coming of the railroad and construction of a dam by the Mammoth Spring Milling Company later in the 1880s, the town flourished.  The Arkansas-Missouri Power Company bought rights to the dam in 1925 and constructed a hydroelectric plant that provided electricity to the area until 1972.  In 1957, legislation established Mammoth Spring State Park, and the dam, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is one of the park’s major attractions.

Mammoth Spring, Arkansas takes pride in its role in the creation of the Grand Old Opry, the longest running country music show in the United States. A reporter named George D. Hay visited the town in the early 1930s and sat in on a group of country musicians playing, singing, and dancing. Later, Hay worked for WSM radio and, as he recounts in his history of the show, that experience in Mammoth Spring inspired him to begin the Grand Old Opry.

1886 Frisco Depot Museum - In one of the most unique museums in Arkansas, take a step back in time to the 1900s as you stroll through the oldest railroad station in Arkansas, the circa 1886 Frisco Depot at Mammoth Spring State Park. This restored, turn-of-the century Victorian depot features custom-sculpted lifelike figures that portray the train crew, depot crew and train passengers of the early 1900s period. Hear the stories that each one shares. Two short videos tell the history of Mammoth Spring. The baggage room includes exhibits of railroad artifacts. A Frisco caboose parked just outside is open for touring, too. The park is on U.S. 63 in Mammoth Spring.

With a somewhat mild climate in the region, there can still be extreme weather patterns at times. These can range from bitter cold and ice in the winter, heavy rains in the spring and dry/hot summers. These conditions can bring a need for water damage restoration and fire damage restoration in which SERVPRO can provide the professional services required. The local SERVPRO franchise has the backing of the national brand that's been around for five decades. SERVPRO technicians are available year-round 24/7 to make it "Like it never even happened."

As OEM Director of Izard County, I requested SERVPRO (Bruce Sanders) to come and give their presentation to my fire chiefs after learning that they had more to offer that JUST clean up and clean carpets. All the plans got interfered with by COVID-19. Fast forward more than a year later, Bruce Sanders and Mark Tyer came out and gave a great and informative presentation. I received good feedback from my fire chiefs. Thank you both very much!

SERVPRO developed an Emergency Ready Plan for the Flippin School District (a complete listing of every electrical, water and gas shutoff in the district and emergency numbers to each service) they included photos of the preferred entrance to the building and the shutoff itself. What a great service provided free of charge to the school districts! They provided each office with a hard copy as well as an app that contains the information. I can now carry this information with me (via the app) 24/7.
